Where To Stay While Building in Agua Prieta

The Exchange Dormitory:
The Exchange Dormitory, which is located on the western edge of Agua Prieta, Sonora, Mexico, was built by the Rancho Feliz Charitable Foundation, Inc., a non-profit corporation based in Scottsdale, Arizona. The Dorm contains 11 rooms and it also provides a full service commercial style kitchen, dining hall and laundry facilities. Volunteers from all over the U.S. that come to Agua Prieta have stayed at the Dorm. Whether a small or large group and whether for a weekend or a week, the charge is nominal.

Security at the Dorm is excellent. It is located on the La Divina Providencia campus, a 14-acre site that contains other separate structures that shelter both abandoned children and senior citizens. The children at the facility are in an environment where they attend school regularly and are exposed to after-school programs to help advance their education. Along with the Seniors, the children's health and well-being needs are also met. To assure the protected environment, the entire campus is completely fenced and secured 24/7.

Motels and Hotels:
Below is a list of motels and hotels in Douglas. The only facilities that we have had feedback on from building teams are the Gadsden Hotel and Motel 6. The Gadsden Hotel is located in the small downtown. It was built in the early 1900’s and has been remodeled over the years. We have heard that the most comfortable rooms are on the mezzanine level. Whether you stay at the Hotel or not, the lobby is a historic preservation and a must see. Also, the hotel restaurant provides good dining, good food and at a very reasonable price. Motel 6 is located on the main highway coming into Douglas from the west and is a relatively standard Motel 6 facility commonly found around the country.
