While funding is always in demand, what is received now comes from sources such as Oktoberfest celebrations, foundations, organized groups and members, businesses, corporations and individuals.

While most Donors provide ‘tax deductible’ funding in different amounts, some Donors sponsor the construction of an entire shelter. When donated, these funds are earmarked for a specific Shelter and the Donor often participates in the construction of the shelter. This gives the Donor the opportunity to actually meet the recipient family members, see what conditions they currently live in and experience what it is like to provide housing to a needy family.

Donors also provide their support through a ‘tax deductible’ donation of building materials such as windows, doors, hardware, etc and tools.

The more experienced building teams can usually adapt and make use of most any item donated but it is much easier for us to use standardized materials. Generally, two doors and three windows are included in each Shelter. The specifics of these and other items that can be donated are listed as follows:

Tools are provided to building teams and are purchased with funds made available for this purpose. It is important that each team is equipped with the necessary tools for a successful building weekend. Therefore, we attempt to keep an ample supply that will outfit up to three teams over a week or weekend. Should you wish to donate tools, the following is a list of the low-end to middle-of-the-line quality tools we go through on a continual basis:

To assist us in transporting equipment and materials from our storage containers in Agua Prieta to our jobs sites throughout the day, we are need of a 6-foot x 10-foot flat bed trailer. This trailer will be kept in our secure storage area in Agua Prieta for building team use.

For consistency in building integrity, workmanship, and ease of training, a detailed Shelter Building Manual is provided by Agua Prieta Family Shelters, Inc.
